Pre-conference extras

Pre-conference extras - Sunday Morning - 9-noon - no cost - sign up on the registration page

Jewish Cemetery Tour - Learn the History of Jewish Washington from the perspective of four Southeast Washington cemeteries - Adas Israel, Washington Hebrew, Ohev Shalom and Elisavetgrad. These are all active cemeteries with about 40 burials per year. They occupy about 15 acres of land, and have had burials over almost 150 years. Time permitting, we will also see the historic St Elizabeth Hospital cemetery site (adjoining the Jewish sites) which dates back to 1872 and has over 2,000 veterans and over 3,000 civilian burials. Tour leader is Harley Felstein. Bus transportation provided by Torchinsky Hebrew Funeral Home. There is no cost for the tour, but donations are gladly accepted. Pre-register by May 30 at the conference registration page.

Casket Making - Many of you will remember Betty Menkin. She brought tachrichim patterns to previous conferences and created Threads of Tradition. She invented the Go Wish cards. And now, using the design of Rabbi Daniel Wasserman, she will be conducting a casket making workshop. Please pre-register for this pre-conference session so that we can make sure the room is big enough for everyone who wants to participate.
